SAKOM considers VIP security and personal security details to be one of the cornerstones of our business model. Our private protection officers incorporate a broad spectrum of required skill sets which cover all areas of the personal security detail requirement as we have understood it to function over the last 12 years, and how we expect it to function in the future. Critical to this future assumption, is the requirement for the personal security detail team member to have a core level of individual VIP security competency, which we assess and add evidence of qualifications to back up our assessment. With this approach, together with our own industry wide experience, we feel we can put together a competent and professional, client focused personal security detail team on behalf of any client.

Personal security detail activities include areas such as VIP security and dignitary protection in the commercial world, whether for a short term visit of an executive or VIP protection for a client consultant or engineer in an area of the world which requires some protection against the primary threat of kidnap. Normally, an insurance company would insist on a personal security detail requirement for visits to certain areas of the world and SAKOM can fulfil this requirement.

Following on from the VIP commercial requirement would be that of the Personal Protection Officer (PPO), which is a similar role to that of VIP protection however for our definition, PPO duties are carried out in a semi-conflict country or country in the emergency or reconstruction phase post conflict. The role of the PPO would be to protect the client during the normal working routine and during the non working hours, provide overwatch and be used as a standby capability for the client. Personal security detail teams or details involve the use, again in conflict zones, of armed personnel, suitably qualified and moving in a team configuration; normally in an armored vehicle convoy, from one safe haven to another or to the work location as defined by the client. Our teams are normally co-located with the client in either a secure villa or hotel in order that protection routines can be established during rest periods.

Our personal security detail or VIP protection team can be summed up as follows:

• Vocationally qualified in the role of Personal Security Details and or VIP Security through a formal and recognized course.
• Vocationally qualified to a medical first responder level using industry-recognized courses such as MIRA or FPOSi.
• Trained and current in the use of their chosen weapon system if armed.
• Advanced driver trained if necessary.
• Free from the use of drugs and alcohol whilst deployed, whether on duty or off-duty on standby.
• Client-focused and mission briefed to ensure the client core task is completed.
